     It's January...so, of course...it's been snowing in Russia.

     In Moscow...10 inches have already fallen...more than half the month's normal.

     And...chaos has ensued.
     Northern Spain has also suffered from unusually heavy snows.

      Some schools were closed...and highways blocked...as 23 provinces went on alert.

      At least a dozen people have perished...as new blizzards hit Portugal, France, the UK and Spain...causing widespread travel disruptions.

       Here in Austin...no snow...but early morning temps have been unusually cold...hovering around 32F/0C.
      Meanwhile...in Australia...Sydney set a new record high...45.8C/114.44F!

       Just east of it...Penrith hit 46.5C/115.52F...and there are fears it might reach 48C.
       So...Central Texans are lucky...until our numbing summer heat arrives...in late Spring.
