MP Juan Manuel Sanchez Gordillo, 53...the Communist mayor of Marinaleda in Andalusia...has been hailed...and denounced...for urging on looting of local supermarkets for food.
Sanchez Gordillo himself did not raid the stores...but stood outside directing activists with a megaphone...as milk, sugar, oils and pastas were wheeled out the doors...without payments....and given to the poor and unemployed.
The southern region's unemployment rate is almost 34%.
7 activist union members were arrested...but Sanchez Gordillo was not detained because of his MP status.
