A new volley in Spain's uproar over continued legal bullfighting there.
The troubled lame duck government of Socialist PM Zapatero announced that the spectacle is now considered "an artistic and cultural product"...protected by the Ministry of Culture.
The proclamation is sure to enrage animal rights backers who successfully banned it in Catalonia last year.
Last year a newspaper poll found that 60% of Spaniards disliked bullfighting...but 57% didn't like the Catalonia ban.
