The honcho of a gang that allegedly carried out murders for Juarez narcos, Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez, aka "El Diego", 33 , has reportedly confessed to masterminding 1,500 murders in Chihuahua state.
He headed La Linea gang which hires itself out as killers for narcos.
He is also suspected of planning a deadly attack on a US consulate worker and her husband in Cd. Juarez last year.
Mexico had offered $1.25m for his capture.
Acosta Hernandez was arrested after a gunfight Friday.
