The Grand Riviera Princess Hotel in Playa del Carmen has been closed  for at least a week for inspections after an explosion killed 7, including 5 Canadians, and injured 18.
Almost 450 guests were moved to other hotels from the 676-room Grand Riviera, and added that a hotel next door to the Grand Riviera had also been shuttered.
“The velocity of the air coming back was incredible, so people were thrown around all over the place in the rooms and hallways,”  said a tourist from Toronto describing the explosion. “There were several people in the debris, there was a lot of people wounded from flying glass.”
