VENEZUELA: "Chavez Fatigue" Growing Among Ardent Supporters.
LATIMES/ A sharp decline in their standard of living has some formerly ardent Hugo Chavez supporters turning against him. "We all had a feeling that progress was coming," said a 49-year-old father of two. "But Chavez's plans have been a debacle and things have only gotten worse." Last month he lead a union march demanding reforms despite facing down riot police. Blue-collar workers now account for Chavez's lowest approval rating in seven years. And Chavez is failing to respond, with more and more supporters suffering from 30% inflation, high crime, scarcities and power outages. They are feeling "Chavez fatigue."
