ARGENTINA: Nestor Kirchner Named UNASUR Secretary-General.
AP/ MIAMI HERALD/ Former Argentine President Nestor Kirchner has been chosen as UNASUR secretary-general. The secretary-general's duties focus solely on regional matters and not on national politics during the two-year term. Kirchner must now resign as a deputy in Argentina's Congress by quitting or by asking for a leave of absence, which would enable him to keep his congressional immunity from prosecution.
