CHILE: TV Show Claims "Secret Report" Proves Allende Murdered; Poet Neruda's Murder To Be Investigated.

    A program on state channel TVN reported that a long-secret copy of a 300-page military review shows that former President Salvador Allende may have been assassinated...and did not kill himself during a 1973 coup.
     Two experts told TVN they believe that Allende was shot first in the face with a small-caliber weapon...and later had his skull top blown away with a AK-47.
    Allende's daughter Sen Isabel Allende was furious about the report before the investigation had been officially resolved.
    "TVN is speculating in the middle of a judicial process where only the scientific investigation of his remains will reach a conclusive review," Allende Twittered.

 AND:   The government says it will examine claims by poet Pablo Neruda's driver that agents for General Augusto Pinochet injected poison into 69-year-old Nobel prize-winning poet's stomach (above) on the day he died...just 12 days after a 23 September 1973 coup.

CHILE: Court Orders Prez. Allende's Body Exhumed.

   A court has ordered the body of former president Salvador Allende exhumed in late May...to learn whether he killed himself...or was killed by soldiers during a 1973 coup.
   Previously, a official post mortem report claimed he committed suicide using a rifle given to him by Fidel Castro.
    But his family recently asked for the body to be re-examined.

   Judicial officials announced that they will investigate the death of President Salvador Allende for the first time, 37 years after the socialist leader was found shot through the head in the presidential palace.
   Many believe Allende's 1973 death was a suicide but officials have never opened a criminal probe about it.
   Popular legend, including that of his personal doctor, has Allende shooting himself with a machine gun Fidel Castro had given him, rather than surrendering.

CHILE/ARGENTINA: Ambassador Resigns After Uproar Over Pinochet Remarks.

AP/ GOOGLE/      Chile's ambassador to Argentina, Miguel Otero, 79, resigned after making favorable comments about the military rule of Gen. Augusto Pinochet. Otero believed that most Chileans had NOT suffered under military rule and that Chile would be another Cuba if President Allende not been overthrown in 1973. Otera's recent appointment was seen as a token gift by new President Sebastian Pinera to hardliners in the coalition that returned conservatives to power after 20 years.

New Nixon Memo Reveals Attempt To Include Brasil In Allende Coup.

A secret memo just uncovered reveals that on Dec.9, 1971, President Richard Nixon offered Brasil's president,General Emilio Medici, aid to rid South America of leftist governments...including Salvador Allende of Chile and Fidel Castro.

Peter Kornbluh, director of the National Security Archive’s Chile and Brazil projects, said the documents revealed “a hidden chapter of collaborative intervention.”
