EU / POLAND: Assuming Presidency...PM Tusk Blasts EU Leaders For Hypocrisy; Fin Min Rostowski Voices Doubts About EU Approach To Greek Crisis.

GUARDIAN

Taking his new role as rotating EU president seriously, Poland's PM Donald Tusk strongly criticized the EU's role in the Greece's sovereign debt crisis, immigration, spending and the budget.

He accused some national leaders of posing as champions while pandering to Euro-skepticism and using immigration fears to curb the Schengen Treaty's important freedom of travel.

"The different phenomenon I am talking about is the birth of a type of Euro-skepticism which does not declare itself. But it's the behavior, the words, the actions by politicians who say they are for the EU, support further integration, but at the same time suggest actions and decisions that weaken the community."

ALSO: NEW!
Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski (above) added his opinion over doubts about the EU's handling of the Greek debt crisis.
He believes there is too much emphasis on austerity and too little focus on growth.
Rostowski is a British-born economist and academic.

POLAND: PM Donald Tusk...Interviewed.

GUARDIAN/ H. Pidd

"In an outspoken interview with the Guardian and its European media partners, Donald Tusk said the growing European preoccupation with the south should not come at the expense of the east. He also criticized David Cameron's plan to cut the EU budget and seemed to take a swipe at British and French leaders when he chastised "certain European politicians, who at a time of crisis speak the language of national egotism and state protectionism".

ALSO:  Opposition leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski is still harping about Russia's report re the cause of the 2010 Smolensk plane crash that killed his twin brother and 95 others. He continues to blame Russia for the tragedy, rejecting the report and calling it one-sided against the Polish pilots. He also accused P.M. Donald Tusk of "political gambling" and said "some people" just don't want the truth.
This back and forth blame game between Jaroslaw and Russia and Jaroslaw and Tusk reminds me of when I would point to my older brother for everything that went wrong, to ward off scoldings and punishment, even when it was my fault. Of course, I was 6-years-old!
