A judge has dismissed charges against singer Kalimba Marichal for the rape of a 16-year-old in Chetumal.
Judge Daniel Farah Godoy in Chetumal said he had not found “sufficient evidence” to bring the case to trial.
No appeal is planned.
The case got extensive media coverage because Kalimba Maruchal, 28, is a Mexican of African descent and black Mexicans are rarely seen in the Mexican media.
