MEXICO: Sinaloan Narco's Bloody Internal Fight Blamed For Notorious 219 Durango Fosas.

AP/ M.HERALD/ E Castillo/ 2 screen read...combined
About the aftermath of Durango's record mass bodies discoveries.

An anonymous top federal policeman said the Durango graves hold rivals of the Sinaloa cartel...and the gang is undergoing a bloody internal power struggle.
He said that recently at least two local groups tried to break off from Sinaloa and take control of the narco routes for themselves.
But unlike the183 bodies in 40 graves found in Tamaulipas...where hundreds turned-up to identify the remains...in Durango the uncovering of fosas there "has been met with little more than a shrug and the swearing by neighbors that they never heard or saw anything unusual as assassins buried scores of bodies under city streets."

MEXICO: Tijuana Pot Haul The Largest Ever, Now Estimated At 134 Tons!

AP/        Authorities in Tijuana now report that a marijuana bust was even bigger than first announced, 134.2 tons and not the original estimate of 105 tons with a street value of over $400 million usd.
Security official Alejandro Poire believes the drugs belong to the Sinaloa drug gang and called it a historic seizure.
"This is an important milestone that demonstrates the ability of the Mexican state when security forces in three levels of government coordinate and take responsibility around a common goal," he said.
The pot was stored in tractor trailers and houses wrapped in different colors and labeled with apparently coded phrases and pictures that included the cartoon character Homer Simpson.

MEXICO: Drug Gangs Fight Over Sonora While Residents Suffer From Seige.

LATIMES/  By Richard Marosi /
Some 5,000 residents in Sonora, in an area about the size of Rhode Island, are caught between two drug gangs warring over what they consider the prime human smuggling territory bordering Arizona.
"The war escalated this summer when Beltran-Leyva cartel gunmen took over the string of pueblos and ranch lands stretching 50 miles from Altar to the Arizona border. Their foes in the Sinaloa drug cartel have since surrounded them. They patrol the four main winding roads leading in and out of the hills and block almost all food and gasoline shipments."

MEXICO: Calderon Defends Drug Gang Crackdown; Denies Favoring Sinaloa.

LA TIMES/    At a press conference, President Felipe Calderon defended his military-led war against ALL drug gangs: "I can assure you that this government has attacked without discrimination all criminal groups in Mexico . . . without taking into consideration whether it's the cartel of so-and-so or what's-his-name. We've fought them all." He called the insinuation that he played favorites "painful" and wondered about the motivation behind it, led by academic Edgardo Buscaglia.

MEXICO: Big News In Juarez...Nobody Was Murdered Today!

AP/MIAMI HERALD/ Long Feature/
On October 30, Cuidad Juarez's biggest newspaper headlined: "Not one person murdered," the first time in 10 months without a slaying. Yet by the end of that day, 9 people were killed. Ciudad Juarez is now among the deadliest cities in the world with about 2,250 killings this year, or 173 per 100,000 residents. That compares with 37 per 100,000 in Baltimore, the U.S. deadliest city. Violence began in early 2008, when Sinaloa drug boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and Juarez drug leader Vicente Carrillo Fuentes began a fight over drug routes their organizations had once shared. Now violent death is part of everyday life there despite a massive infusion of troops.
