The International Court of Justice at the Hague ruled that Greece should not have blocked the former Yugoslav nation of Macedonia's bid to join NATO in 2008...because of a name dispute.
Greeks contend that the term 'Macedonia' is Hellenic...while Macedonians say it is part of their Slavic identity and refuse to change it.
Presumably...the ruling makes it difficult for Greece to object to future applications by Macedonia to join NATO or the EU.
