PERU: One Dead, 28 Injured In Water Clash Near Espinar.
ALERTNET/REUTERS/ Four hundred miles south of Lima near the town of Espinar, police fought with protesters over the Majes-Siguas II irrigation project, killing one bystander and injuring at least 28. The project plans a dam and water system capable of irrigating 95,000 acres (38,500 hectares) of agricultural land in the region of Arequipa.
