PERU: Cocaleros Take Over Power Plant In Aguaytia, Cutting Power; 120 Arrested; Road Blockage Continues.
LIVING IN PERU/ Hundreds of coca growers took over a power plant in interior Ucayali province Sunday, cutting off electricity to an estimated 430,000 people before 120 were arrested. Police regained control, arrested 120 people and freed 30 employees in Aguaytia. But the cocaleros have blocked the main highway with buses and trucks, protesting recent government eradication of their coca crop.
