VENEZUELA: China Will Help Finance 3 New Power Plants For $520 Million In Oil.
REUTERS/ China, the new Latin American econovore, will aid building three 300 megawatt electricity generating plants in Venezuela at a cost of some $520 million usd in return for oil deliveries under a long-term $20 billion financing deal. Some 19 development projects costing almost $5 billion were agreed to in recent talks. The Hugo Chavez- led nation suffered severe electricity shortages during a drought this year that forced power rationing.
