MERCOSUR: Trade Surging Among Members.
WSJ/ Taos Turner/ About $41 billion usd in trade is estimated for 2010 among Mercosur's original four members--Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay and Uruguay--and Venezuela, which is seeking full membership...up from $9 billion in 2002 and $4.5 billion in 1991, when Mercosur was established. Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador are associate members. So far about $400 million worth of trade between Argentina and Brazil has been conducted using local currencies and NOT the usd, reported Brasil's ambassador to Argentina, Enio Cordero.
