BRASIL: Soccer Star Seeks Office As Socialist.
GUARDIAN.UK/ Former striker Romário is running as a Socialist in the upcoming election of federal deputies in October. The third highest scorer in the history of Brasilian soccer wants to be one of 513 federal deputies. At least four other former soccer players are also running for office. The media has greeted those candidates with skepticism, and Romário as the object of particular scrutiny.
