According to President Lula da Silva, “events in Chile are evidence that to win we can’t be divided”. He wants progressive and left wing parties to join together to support his former cabinet chief Dilma Rousseff or suffer defeat to a conservative as occurred in Chile's recent election of Sebastian Pinera.
