EURO: Banks Win, Greece And Euro Lose On Default.

NYTIMES/    Credit-default swaps, the same kind of trades that nearly brought down mammoth AIG and the U.S. economy, are now making it harder for Greece to raise money. “It’s like buying fire insurance on your neighbor’s house — you create an incentive to burn down the house," said one analyst. These CDS's are bets by speculators Greece will default on its debts.

THE EU: Must Audit And Punish Goldman Sachs For Going Rogue With Greek Debt.

BASELINE SCENARIO/ Economist Simon Johnson's blog/   It now looks like a single rogue bank can also bring down the world’s financial system. Goldman Sachs may be that rogue bank if the revelations by the NYTimes about Greece's debt and Goldman's  leveraging are true. Johnson argues that the EU MUST launch a special audit of Goldman Sachs and ALL its European clients.

THE E.U: Goldman Sachs Role In The Greek Debt Crisis.

NYTIMES/ ANALYSIS/   Creative deals by Wall Street and especially, Goldman Sachs, helped Greece hide billions in debt from its books. Throughout Euroland, banking firms provided upfront cash for future payments that were undisclosed and mislead investors and regulators. Greece traded away its rights to airport fees and lottery proceeds for years. Greece now owes $300 billion to banks and its inability to lower its debt is roiling the EU.
