Mass student protests in Hungary last week got little English language media coverage...including from GOOGLE NEWS....but YAHOO NEWS did show REUTERS coverage.
Because of the huge turnouts...PM Orban has now backed down from severe reforms he proposed to cut state financed university education.
After meeting with some students...Orban said his proposals would be redone...and would abolish quotas.
His initial proposal would have slashed the number of students fully financed by 2/3.
Thousands protested peacefully in Budapest...blocking bridges over the Danube last Monday...and marched again on Wednesday.
