AUSTIN / UK : Telegraph Erects Paywall; Hot Links Here...End.

The UK's sometimes cheeky newspaper...The Telegraph...has apparently erected a paywall...of 20 FREE visits per month.
Since this newsblog is still AD FREE...it is NOT possible to underwrite paywall access for visitors.
Telegraph news stories may now only be referenced...without FREE linkage.
It's coverage of South America was minimal at best...but Nick Squires' Roma writings about ex-Italian PM slippery Silvio...will be missed.
Thus...the Telegraph joins the NYTimes (10 free visits), LA Times, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, Canada's National Post, Financial Times, The Economist...and sometimes the WSJ...with severely diminished...if any...coverage here.
More problematic for this blog is the rumor that the UK's Guardian will soon be erecting a paywall.
This blog's editor understands and respects the right of every news outlet to make money delivering its take on the news...and to charge for web access...but this newsblog gets NO free ride for delivering readers to sites...unlike Facebook...and is unable to pay for access for its many visitors...for the growing number of must-pay media websites...without advertising or financial support.
Despite requests from Google...there are currently NO plans to permit advertising on this site...allowing random herbal viagra ads to slow loading...and litter this blog.
Besides...there's no way this site could earn enough ad revenue to pay for the growing number of paywalled media outlets.
Not at the current rate...less than $5 per 1,000 page views.
This blog has only recently crashed thru the crucial 100,000 page views...per year... barrier.
