ECUADOR : Amazon Copper Mining Debate Embroils Quito.

    A debate over future mining...is literally occupying Quito...as indigena protest fears of  water pollution...and displacement from a proposed $1.4 billion Chinese-financed Amazon open-cast copper mine...while President Correa's supporters have rallied to staunchly defend the development.
    Thousands of indigena marched for 2 weeks from El Pangui...700km/430 miles...to protest.
