PERU: Thousands Protest Cajamarca Gold Mine Plans.

     President Ollanta Humala's openess to more development is being tested as thousands protest new plans for a huge open-cast goldmine in the Cajamarca region of the Andes.
     Local farmers and indigena believe the proposed $4.8bn Conga mine...owned by USA's Newmont...will cause pollution and destroy water supplies.
