PERU: Family's Claim For Machu Picchu Heads To UNESCO.

                                      TELEGRAPH /R.YAPP

Since 2004, the Abril family has started five lawsuits over the ownership of Machu Picchu.
The family owned the estate and the famous ruins...with a deed showing they paid in gold...when the ruins were 'rediscovered' by American Hiram Bingham in 1911.
Peru started to expropriate the ruins in 1944...but allegedly never completed the process... nor paid compensation.
Now the family is taking its case to the UNESCO...and seeking hundreds of millions in compensation.
