The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Lithuania violated a free elections article in the European Convention on Human Rights by barring former President Rolandas Paksas from running for parliament in 2004.
President Paksas was impeached and removed from office after a constitutional court found that he had abused his position.
He is now a Euro MP in Strasbourg.
