The government will ban cell phones from bank lobbies to stop a growing number of customers robbed after making large withdrawals.
In 2010, Argentina averaged 40 such robberies PER DAY.
The robberies, known as "salideras," are a growing problem through-out all of Latin America.
The hope is to stop spotters inside the banks from using phones to tip off their associates on the street.
Will this proposed drastic measure work?
Security experts don't think so. "There are many ways spotters can signal to their compatriots that don't involve cell phones," said security analyst Bruce Schneier. "They can use hand signals to someone outside."
