Eight people are reported dead from a mudslide in coastal Portobelo after days of heavy rains, raising fatalities to 10 from a storm that also forced a temporary closing of the Panama Canal.
The mudslide has isolated Portobelo's 3,000 residents from outside help.
The canal itself closed for first time since the 1989 U.S. military invasion of Panama.
