Alas, bus accidents are all too common in Latin America, especially in Peru and Bolivia where roads and the topography are challenging.
But Chile has witnessed one of its worst bus accidents in 2 decades. It occurred near Melipilla between the coastal town of San Antonio and Santiago. At least 19 have died with 22 injured.
Police say the bus crossed a highway median strip with protective barriers and ran into a truck carrying a load of eggs that was going in the opposite direction.
