BRASIL: Fueling A Boom: Interest Free Credit With Installment Plans.

    Credit is now widely available in Brasil because of interest-free payments from popular installment plans. The plans allow consumers to buy their products with up to 17 installments on any credit card-- without interest rates. Economist Marcelo Neri says “Brazilians are now making up for years of holding back on spending.” In April 2010, consumer credit totaled $267 billion, an 18.2% increase from 2009.
