VENEZUELA: Doctor Prescribed Arsenic May Have Killed Simon Bolivar.
AP/GOOGLE NEWS/ Arsenic not tuberculosis may have killed South American liberator Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chavez's favorite hero, claims an American doctor. But Bolivar's doctors, not treachery, had him take the arsenic because arsenic was a common treatment and tonic in his era said Dr. Paul Auwaerter. Despite the new claim, Chavez still believes Bolivar was murdered. "They killed him. Here in my heart for years I've had the conviction that Bolivar didn't die of tuberculosis. I don't know if we'll be able to prove it, but I think they assassinated Bolivar."
