GLOBALPOST/ An estimated 2.5 million tourists will visit Cuba this year. Canadians ranks first, followed by Europeans, with an increasing number of Cuban-Americans since President Obama loosened restrictions. There are few Russians visitors because of the 12-hour flight from Moscow. But for many Russians, Cuba is a place to relive their own history. “There aren’t so many Russians who are nostalgic for the socialist stuff. They want to get a glimpse of times gone past.They want to feel something inside, something bittersweet” says a tourism offical. A Russian tourist says Cuba is a trendy destination.
“It’s a very hot place, and the people are very hot and powerful."
