AUSTIN, TEXAS: ACC Teacher Anita Brewer Howard Retires.
AUSTIN 360.COM/ It had to happen eventually. Anita Brewer Howard, a friend, former teacher at Lifetime Learning and my occasional delightful lunch companion has announced her retirement from Austin Community College. Anita is...86! She joined the ACC staff in 1973 and became a journalism teacher in 1984. She partially retired once before in 1993. Her uncle was Stanley Walker, the famous former city editor of the New York Herald Tribune. Howard was a staff features and education reporter for the Austin American-Statesman from 1954 to 1966. She is also a prolific ghost-writer and editor.
