WASHINGTON POST/
"Russia has redoubled its efforts to portray Ukraine as a hostile neighbor, lodging a barrage of complaints against its policies and plunging relations between the two countries to their lowest point since the fall of the Soviet Union.
The vilification campaign has puzzled and alarmed analysts here as well as in Washington and Moscow. Many say Russia is trying to tilt the electoral field even further in its favor. But because that seems unnecessary, some are also asking whether Russian leaders might be laying the groundwork for a more serious confrontation with Ukraine, just a year after a brief war with another pro-Western neighbor, Georgia."

Did Low Traffic Count Doom Web Columnist?
From the NYTimes.
About the Dan Froomkin dismissal from Washington Post.com.
IMO...The WashPost has the most INEPT website of ALL the major newspapers.
It employs ultra short takes...that serve only to INFLATE its page count...and slow loads.
Plus an annoying log-in process...even to glance at a story.
So now, I avoid the Washington Post website!
At THO...there's no worry about the web count. There isn't one.
Besides, Latin American and Eastern European news stories aren't exactly traffic builders.

WashPost Publisher's "Pay For Chat" Salon Scheme Falls Flat.
What nerve!
What tone deafness!
What stupidity!
Not to mention...just downright...whoring yourself... and your people out!
I'm writing about the Washington Post's new publisher, Katharine Weymouth, and her attempt to raise money by selling lobbyists access to a salon at her home with government officials... for $25,000 each.

Profile of a Cuban Spy
Liberal State Department analyst Walter Kendall Myers apparently had a deep anger against the US for its policies on Cuba.
But his friends are baffled by charges against him of conspiracy and being a foreign agent for the communist island...since 1978.

I don't know how any intelligent observer could claim sympathy for Castro-controlled Cuba after visiting it...even if only for a week...unless they were treated like celebrities/politicians and kept inside a sheltered state security bubble.
A few minutes of private conversation with a regular Cuban...will usually reveal all sort of resentments and hostilities...against the Castro's control and policies... and not those of the US!
