President-elect Ollanta Humala will pardon former President Alberto Fujimori (above)...if his health worsens.

Fujimori, 73, is serving 25 years for corruption and ordering murders...but recently has been hospitalized for bleeding in his mouth...a possible recurrence of tongue cancer. Fujimori has also lost 15kg/33lb.

Humala said "nobody should die in prison, except people serving life sentences for abusing children".

Under Peru's law,  Fujimori can only be pardoned on health grounds.

   Various polls have her around second place in Sunday's election...enough to qualify for a June runoff...if no candidate gets a simple majority.
   Keiko, 35, still carries the baggage of her father Alberto, Peru's president in the 1990's.

PERU: Imprisoned Ex-president Fujimori Hospitalized.

      Former president Alberto Fujimori, serving 25 prison for human rights abuses, was moved to a hospital specializing in cancer treatment after his health deteriorated.
     Fujimori was president from 1990-2000. In April 2009, he was convicted of crimes in connection with a army death squad that operated during his rule.
    His 35-year-old daughter Keiko, a likely candidate  for the presidency in 2011, has vowed to pardon her father.

Fujimori, 34, may face fellow conservative Lima Mayor Luis Castaneda. They are nearly tied in opinion polls. Her father, former President Alberto Fujimori, was convicted last year for his role in ordering a death squad to attack insurgents.
