     Police in northeastern Teresina invaded the compound of a doomsday cult...who were reportedly waiting for the world to end at 8 pm Friday.
     Some shots were fired...as police swooped in...using tear gas and pepper spray...just 10 minutes before the doomsday deadline...but no casualties were reported.

     Officials feared the 113 members would commit mass suicide...by drinking a soup laced with poison.

    Their leader Luis Pereira dos Santos, 43...had convinced his followers the end of the world was near.

    Police had earlier removed 19 children from the compound.
