CHILE: Peso Plummets On Copper Slump; Some Protesters Riot Again During 36th Demonstration.

                                            BLOOMBERG

The peso has fallen 11% in Sept., its biggest drop since 2008...but still trailing the 24% drop in the price of copper as demand for the metal slows...especially from big user China.
The peso is down 1.3%...to 519.75 per usd...from 512.78 yesterday.
Copper comprises than half of Chile’s exports.

AND: Police and some student protesters have clashed again...during the 36th demonstration for education reforms. Organizers claim 90,000 protesters marched near the University of Santiago.
"Free education...is the main topic we will discuss at the next meeting," said student leader Camila Vallejo after the talks.

ALSO: President Pinera has proposed a 5% increase in public spending and 7.2% for education in 2012. But observers say that amount is unlikely to end the student protests.
