COLOMBIA: Surging Oil Production Also Brings More Violence/Kidnappings Of Oil Workers.

                                         LATIMES/C.Kraul

Improved security has suddenly made Colombia a major oil producer.
It could soon be pumping 1 million bbls daily...up 88% from its 2006 average.
But crude's success has also fed a surge in violent crime against the oil workers in remote areas...as 130 companies search for new sources of crude.
At least 38 oil workers have been kidnapped so far this year.
