The government has completely canceled the Tia Maria copper mine project after two more people were reported killed in the area around the proposed mine.
The mining ministry called the environmental impact assessment for the $1bn project "inadmissible".
Farmers in Islay had threatened to boycott tomorrows presidential election unless the mining company abandons its $1 billion Tia Maria copper mine project there...and police stop attacking protesters.
The threat followed an earlier clash that left one dead and 50 injured.
