U.S. Ambassador to Ecuador Heather Hodges (pictured with Prez. Correa) has been declared a 'persona non grata' for a July 2009 WikiLeaks cable-newly revealed by the Spanish newspaper El Pais-that alleged retired national police commander Jaime Hurtado and others were corrupt.
The cable also claimed that President Rafael Correa was aware of corruption allegations against several senior police officials.
FM Ricardo Patino said he had not received a satisfactory explanation from her about the cable that was signed by her office.
"Ecuador's government has decided to consider this woman as a persona non grata ...we have asked her to leave the country in the shortest time possible," he said.
