President Sebastian Pinera's popularity is currently at 42%...down from October's 63% approval when 33 miners were rescued from 69 days trapped a half-mile deep.
Worse, 49% now disapprove of  Pinera.
Critics say he is too impulsive and takes risks more fitting a tycoon... than a political leader.
Even his own party is wary of his style.
"He can't keep being a one-man band, because a one-man band means he can't direct a group, and a good government should be more like a symphony," Pinera's own party leader recently commented.
