PARAGUAY: President Lugo Fires Military Chiefs...For The 4th Time... Since 2008.
BBC/ President Fernando Lugo dismissed the heads of the army, navy and air force, as well as five other senior officers-- the fourth time he has replaced the top command since he took office in 2008. The dismissals are provoking strong negative reactions in the military. A former Catholic bishop, Lugo, 58, was recently diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy in Brasil. His popularity has also declined rapidly since his election ended 60 years of one-party rule.
