POLAND: Shale Gas Reserve Estimate Likely By End Of 2011.
B.BWEEK/ Pawel Poprawa, head of Poland's Geological Institute, says “By the end of 2011 we should know if there’s gas in the rocks and, if so, how rich the deposits could be.” International producers, including majors like ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, Chevron and Talisman Energy believe that there may be 3 trillion cubic meters of shale and "tight gas" in Poland. “The area of rock formations in the country is very large and we still have to confirm if there is any gas at all. But if it is there, the deposits may be huge indeed,” said Poprawa.
