VENEZUELA: Chavez Expropriates 8 Brokerage Firms.
BLOOMBRG/ Business takeovers by President Hugo Chavez continue. This time 8 brokerage firms were seized and two raided in a probe foreign of currency transactions. “We decided to take action because we presume that they were laundering money through bond transactions," said security administrator Tomas Sanchez. Some brokerages may have to be “liquidated,” he said, without providing details. “These said President Hugo Chavez on TV. “We need to take control of capital away from the bourgeoisie.
