PERU: 2nd UPDATE: At least 21 Perish, 18+ Missing as Overloaded Amazon Ship Sinks.
LAHT/ 30 MAYO UPDATE/ Rescue teams are still searching a shipwreck in the Amazon about 31 miles from Iquitos. At least 13 people died and 18 or more are missing after the sinking of a Peruvian ship called The Camila. 161 passengers survived. An official said that the ship sank “apparently due to overloading of materials and passengers,” adding that the vessel was reportedly carrying more than 300 people when capacity was only 160 passengers.
