POLAND: Smolensk Airport Is An Aging Relic.
GLOBAL POST/ New information is being revealed about the woeful status of the Smolensk airport in Russia where Poland's presidential plane crashed, killing 96. The small airfield lacks up-to-date equipment. "It's a military airfield in poor condition," said Vitaly Shelkovnikov. It is also unknown how the Polish crew communicated with air traffic controllers at Smolensk, who only speak Russian.
