COSTA RICA: Surfers Prefer The Atlantic Side's Big Wild Waves.
NYTIMES/ TRAVEL/ The far southern province of Limón is one of Costa Rica’s poorest areas but also its most diverse. One expatriate says “coming here is about living with nature. We’re not like the Pacific side, where everything is air-conditioned and tamed.” Surfers especially love the area because of a famous wave known as Salsa Brava (Wild Sauce), which breaks near Puerto Viejo. It’s thought to be the most powerful wave in Costa Rica.
