MEXICO: Survey: Police--The Biggest Bribery Recipients.
AP/ MIAMI HERALD/ A U.S. study of Mexican corruption reveals that 85% of bribe demands came from people in the government, with 45% coming from police, 12% from federal government officials and the rest from local officials, the judiciary, the military or ruling party officials. "The rate of extortion demands in Mexico is very high, and the level of police extortion is high," said expert Alexandra Wrage.
