NYTIMES UPDATE/ AM 15 FEB/ Seven-year-old Julia Lira performed as Carnaval's youngest drum corps queen for the Viradouro samba group in Rio after a small breakdown. Some children's activists had complained about her prominent role but a judge ruled that Julia could assume the coveted position usually reserved for models and actresses.
