The ex-governor of the Venezuelan state of Aragua, Didalco Bolivar, has asked for asylum in Peru.
Bolivar, a former ally of leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, was governor of Aragua for 14 years, has also been a senator, and is currently deputy secretary general of the Podemos party, which broke with the government in 2007.
