BRASIL / USA / MEDIA : Factoid: Lourdes Garcia-Navarro Heads For Rio...To Open NPR Bureau.

Veteran NPR correspondent John Burnett revealed this morning on Austin's KUT-FM...that the network's outstanding former Mexico City bureau chief...Lourdes 'Lulu' Garcia-Navarro...will be opening a bureau in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil...well ahead of the 2016 Olympics.
Garcia-Navarro has been stationed in Jerusalem since 2009.
Before that...she worked in Iraq...winning 5 major journalism awards for her coverage of the war there.
Fortunate English listeners/readers will no doubt see currently limited coverage of Brasil grow...in quantity and depth.
